Flexible Hone Hits the Road
“One of our customers, a major heavy equipment manufacturer in China, had a major problem with their fixture cavities that caused our cylinders not seal properly. These fixtures were produced for making mass produced parts,” says Rod Nelson, vice president of Vektek International Sales. “The trouble was that the customer’s cavities were not machined suitably for installation, a flaw in their finishing process was missed. As a result, it appeared that the Vektek seals were leaking, a problem that was not a shortcoming in the cylinder design or quality, but required solving at the customer’s site or these very expensive fixtures would not be useable.“Because many times the customer’s milling processes will not give them a good enough finish, we recommend that they use a Flex-Hone tool to improve that finish as part of the cylinder installation process,” Nelson adds.
Gordon King, general manager of Vektek’s Shanghai office, explains that the finishing with the flex-honing tool in the field gives the cylinder cavities a super high finish that is virtually unattainable through use of standard cutting tools such as reamers or drills.

This case fit my drill and new charger and batteries. It arrived promptly. Then, I decided that the 18v Li-ion batteries would be a good gift for my dad and he would need a case also, so I bought another. Then, brother wanted a new charger and batteries he and asked my to buy him the charger and batteries and a new case. Both cases arrived promptly.
I purchased this for my 18 volt Li-Ion cordless drill. I did my homework on Milwaukee’s website before ordering. This case is listed as fitting not only the new 28v Li-Ion but the 18v as well. Unfortunately the fit is less than perfect. The drill w/battery will go in and will stay secure with the lid closed, however, the way the drill nests is just not quite right.
If you are a perfectionist, avoid this case. If you are looking for protection and easy transport for drill, 2 batteries and the charger, do a little work, make them fit and go.
This case may work perfectly for the new 28v rig.
I will, as it seems to be somewhat of a theme, mention that I purchased the 4 tool V28 set, and then, very soon afterward, came back and picked up the cases.
