It's been a year since Sony introduced its NEX line of sub-compact, interchangeable lens cameras, a line I raved about last summer when first introduced.
Now Sony has its first update to the line, the NEX-C3, which is the successor to the NEX-3.
What's new? Very, very little. The price is the same at $599 with lens; the body is about 9% smaller; you get an extra 2 megapixels (16 vs. 14); and battery life has been improved.
And that's about it, which makes one wonder why Sony bothered at all with the update. However, my thoughts about the NEX haven't changed — I still love it.
Sony miniaturized the basic SLR into a point-and-shoot-size body, without taking away the manual SLR controls. The result is a joy: a camera whose images are much sharper than you're likely to see on a point and shoot. (Sony says its sensor chip is 14 times larger than ones found in point and shoots.)
Since the Samyang lenses are manual focus only, at least for once these wouldn’t be too burdensome to use on Micro Four Thirds via an adapter. I sometimes use an old Canon screwmount 85mm f/1.5 on my Micro Four Thirds camera (Pana G1) and can comfirm that this is a very useful focal length… although holding still is a challenge!
Its a manual lens! All you need to do is take the Nikon version, add a <$1 Fmount to 4/3 adaptor and you have a 4/3rds lens! All the old Zeiss Nikon lenses were also 4/3rds as all were also manual. Only just recently did Zeiss offer Aperture control on the F mount series.
Focusing on this lens should be easy on a E3, I curently use Nikon 50mm F1.2 with out trouble.
(FT4) Rumors: Things are not as quiet as you may think! New Olympus FourThirds camera in Q1!
As you may have noticed we haven’t post many rumors in the past weeks. One of the reasons is that we do not expect a new camera or lenses announcement before February. Anyway we are receiving first rumors about future Olympus stuff. What we can say for now is that it is very likely that [...]
