Sony Alpha NEX-C3
The camera’s APS-C image sensor is the same size found in most D-SLRs. The NEX manages its small size because it drops the optical viewfinder and mirror box that are necessary to direct light from the lens to your eye. The slim design offers another advantage that enthusiasts will appreciate—the ability to use lenses for other camera systems via third-party adapters. It’s easy to find an inexpensive adapter that will allow you to use older manual focus rangefinder and SLR lenses. Manual focus is aided by the ability to bring up a 7.5x or 15x magnified view on the LCD with the touch of a button.
Because the NEX-C3 has no eye-level viewfinder, you frame your images using the articulating 3-inch rear LCD. The display is extremely sharp, offering a tightly packed 921,600 dots, and is bright enough for use on even the sunniest of days. You can tilt it both up and down, perfect for situations when you want to use the camera at waist-level or above your head. The tilting mechanism is identical to that of the NEX-3—it can be made to be nearly perpendicular to the back of the camera when tilting up, and goes to about 45 degrees when tilting it down.

Forget being complimented as the Alpha male of cameras, this snapper suffers from the case of Edward Scissorhands. To begin with, despite being clad in soft rubbery material. there's a cheap, down-market plasticky feel to it that's hard to ignore. The small grip makes it cumbersome to wield. Dedicated buttons for critical parameters such as ISO, brust mode etc that you expect to see on a DSLR are simply AWOL unless you don't mind them mapped to the d-pad. Using it is another hassle that can force you to tear your hair apart. and the few buttons which are present go awry in placement. So you have the power button in place of the command wheel. Result: you spend more time switching the camera off than doing any real work. Where this little snappy really scores is portability - it's small and compact enough to become your armoury. The Eye-start AF tech enables the camera to start focusing the moment you start peeping into the viewfinder; and mind you, this is no gimmick, it works darn well....
