Compact at its best
SHOOTING with the Nikon Coolpix P500 has never been this fun and cool at the same time. The easy access to its many functions is the one feature that would get you going.Everything is at the flick of a dial. This is one of the many cool features that serious shutterbugs would look for in a pretty decent digital camera.
While some cameras allow you total freedom to just point and shoot your subject, the Nikon Coolpix P500 comes in handy when you feel the need to pretend to look like professional photographers. The menu that comes with the P500 on the top right corner of the camera's body is easily used with simple dials.
The P500 is a step above its cousins, with (about) the same functions - if you're comparing it with its predecessor, the P100, that is.
Handling the camera is easy, even with its body that looks no more than a professional DSLR. However, with its 36x optical zoom, it's quite tricky to get a sharp image, unless you stand perfectly still with a tripod. Its 36x optical zoom, which is equivalent to 810 milimeters telephoto lense, might look like the gear to go especially if you were to use it to capture live action during a concert, for example. Handling it can be a little tough, though.
