Sony Alpha A65 Hands-on Preview
Easily the sleeper of the four simultaneous Alpha announcements, the Sony A65 has a lot to offer in a humble package compared to the more elaborate Sony A77 introduced on the same day. Inside its simple exterior you'll find the same 24.3-megapixel sensor, the same BIONZ processor, and the ability to capture 10 frames per second. Prefocus shutter lag and shutter noise are also reduced thanks to the Sony A65's electronic first curtain mode, which captures an images without first closing then opening the shutter curtain; essentially going from live view to image capture with very little pause.The new camera also supports the new AVCHD progressive video capture, capable of Full HD 1080p at 60 frames per second, and includes Sony's suite of unique capture modes, including Sweep Panorama, 3D, and Handheld Twilight modes. And instead of an optical viewfinder, the Sony A65 has a large, smooth OLED electronic viewfinder.
The Sony A65 doesn't have several of the A77's other unique features, like the more elaborate swiveling LCD (though it still has a swiveling LCD), the 19-point autofocus (instead it has 15), and no vertical grip is designed for it, but it still has quite a lot to offer compared to competing SLRs on the market.

Recently I went to a talk by one of the Paisley Colour exponents - Robert Fulton . Robert is simply excellent at landscapes - he not only is compositionally spot on, but he also has the gumsheon to get up early for morning shots, is technically excellent, and is willing to stand up to the welly tops in icy cold rivers for a shot of a frozen tree as viewed by the ducks (which are at this point huddled together on dry land). shoots on summers days. In the summer he is pottering in his garden enjoying the sunshine. His cam
era is resting in his kit bag. He only photographs in the autumn and winter. He takes most of his images on cold frosty or misty mornings when the sun is struggling to get through the cloud, colours are strong but subtle and the light is diffuse. As a result he takes incredibly atmospheric images. My own best shots are taken up the hills when no-one is there , between storms, when the sky...
