Sigma Adds Image Stabilization to 105mm Macro Lens
25.07.11 - canon 105mm macro lens
Sigma has announced an updated version of its 105mm wide-aperture macro lens. The 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM lens incorporates Sigma's Optical Stabilization (OS) system, a feature that is especially valuable with close-up photography.
The lens provides 1:1 magnification at its closest working distance: 31.2cm. It employs a Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element and a high-refractive-index SLD element to correct for aberrations and distortions. The floating focusing system moves two different lens groups to compensate for astigmatic and spherical aberration. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, for improved contrast and clarity.
Other features include Sigma's Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) autofocus system, which allows full-time manual focus; and a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for attractive out-of-focus blur. A lens hood is included, along with a lens-hood adapter for use with DLSRs that use APS-C-sized sensors.
The Sigma Macro 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM will be available in Canada through Sigma's Canadian distributor, Gentec International, for $1,200. A Canon-mount version will arrive in August. Nikon- and Sigma-mount versions begin shipping in September, and the Sony-mount version in November.
