EDAC Technology Corp, a $25 million market cap (yes, that's not a typo: it's tiny), is a supplier of precision components (jet engine parts, special tooling, etc.) to the aerospace sector. United Technologies ( UTX ) is its largest customer at about 44% of revenue, and EDAC has secured a position on the firm's geared turbofan engine (high pressure compressor hubs, turbine disks, etc.), which is turning into a favorite powerplant among commercial OEMs in the narrowbody arena. The firm is also a supplier on Boeing's 787 Dreamliner (fan cowl, fan blisk) and the Joint Strike Fighter (compressor integrated blade rotors, compressor fan case, etc.). In fact, less than five years ago, EDAC was producing parts for only one client and a single engine, but now the firm is on over 10 major engine programs across a wider range of customers. Growth in backlog has been stunning, and thanks to a new multi-year $42 million agreement to supply additional engine parts to a leading European engine maker (announced this year), backlog now stands at over $171 million from about $140 million at the end of 2010 and just over $20 million in 2005 - that's about 2.3x the firm's annual revenue run-rate and over 8x its market cap, revealing nice visibility. We think this firm could go to $6 per share in short order.

Two foils and a center slit blade all float independently, while it’s pivoting head feature rocks up and down, and back and forth, allowing the blades to form and follow every contour of your face. You can even adjust the amount of pivot based on your preference… More >>
It is cordless and the battery works just fine. It has a cleaning mechanism that is only about twice as bothersome as cleaning the razor by hand. It shaves reasonably well if you have a lot of time to waste going over and over those neck hairs that seem to evade the cutters. Speaking of the cutters and the screens, they become quite warm before I am finished shaving which leads me to believe that there is friction and that the very thin screens are not likely to last very long. For this reason I decided to buy replacement screens, but in Amazon’s many pages of Panasonic razor stuff I find screens for dozens of different razors, but alas, none for this model. This is annoying because it makes me feel the razor is now just that much more lacking. In a way, not getting replacement parts will undoubtedly cause me to the sensible thing; i.e., chuck it and buy another Norelco.

Jonathan Takiff: Go back to school with cool gadgets FUZZ PATROL: When I went off to college, dad's parting gift was a Panasonic electric razor, a really good idea; electrics are kinder to young skin than blades. Plus, you don't need a sink to shave - saving time and stress in the dorm and also, and more » |

Groomed for growth A Euromonitor 2010 study adds, “Majority of consumers prefer to use razors and blades which are cheaper and do not require electricity to operate.” Yet Philips sees huge headroom available for growth. Look at the related categories for proof. |
