Local resident Lou Greenstein has been working in the food service industry for over forty years. Greenstein has been a columnist, television chef, consultant and collector.
Greenstein has contributed to the Boston Globe and Bon Appétit amongst others, and has authored several books including A La Carte: A Tour of Dining History, The Mystic Seaport Bakery Recipe Sampler, and a recipe book for Braun.
He was a regular on the Good Day Show for 14 years, and toured the country for Braun introducing their new hand blender with cooking demonstrations. In 1987, he did a section of the tour with then Miss America Kellye Cash.
Greenstein's passion for the food industry extends into his personal life. For the last 35 years, he has been collecting various kitchen items, menus, and antiques. His collection has over 12,000 kitchen gadgets, 1,000's of menus, and hundreds of books.
"Sometimes collecting is pretty wonderful. Everyone should find something they're passionate about," Greenstein said.
